Todays competition games all have an appointed referees however not many have linesmen.

Without linesman a referee has a much harder job calling offside or the ball out called correctly so if you are great at critiquing it as a spectator now is your time to step up.
Linesman are paid so a few beer or coffee dollars will be waiting for you as well
